How to get there?

Plane – (Malaga Aeropuerto)

From Malaga airport there is a half hour bus service to the Central Bus Station Málaga (line 19, € 1,-).

From the Central Bus Station Málaga, a bus goes to Cómpeta according to the following schedule twice a day:

Monday / Friday: 11.30 h, 13.15 h and 18.30 h.
On Saturdays and holidays: 13.15 h en 18.30 h.
On Sundays: 10.30 h en 20.15 h.
(Bus company: Loymerbus, € 4,50)

Taxi

You can also take a taxi form Málaga airport to Cómpeta.

If you should book with our local taxi driver Maximo, he will attend you and pick you up in the airport arrival hall for € 70,-

(taxi seats up to 7 people).

A regular airport taxi charges usually € 85,- to € 90.

Rental Car (preferable)

If you want to be completely independent, you can rent a car at Málaga airport or just outside the airport.

Just Google 'car rental Malaga' and you can find many car rental companies. Pay attention and compare the terms !

Departure from Málaga take the Autovia del Mediterraneo towards Motril/Almería.

After Vélez Málaga/Torre del Mar you take exit Algarrobo. Follow the mountain road to Cómpeta (16 km, purple route).

You passes through the villages of Algarrobo en Sayalonga.

Coming from Granada/Motril take the Autovia del Mediterraneo direction Málaga.
After Nerja/Frigiliana take the exit Torrox/Cómpeta. Follow the mountain road to Cómpeta (16 km, pink route).

Climate

Due to the exceptional mild micro-climate this region occupies a special position in Europe.

The climate is known as the mildest in Europa.

The mountains surrounding the Axarquia stop the cold north wind from the Spanish plateau and hold back the warm southern wind from Africa in winter. That's why, the temperature during winter might rise up to 20 degrees Celsius in the shade.

The number of people, overwintering in these villages of this region, is still increasing properly.

The almond trees are blossoming earlier than anywhere else in Axarquia.

Often this has been leading to colorful vistas around the turn of the Year.
